Submissions should not have been published at the time of presentaiton. The submission guidelines apply to both Young Emerging Leaders Forum submissions and WAAE World Summit submissions. 

All Submissions

All submssions must include the folllowing components to be complete.

  • A Cover Letter that includes:
    • The title of the paper (15 word limit)
    • For each presenter: name, email address, phone number, institutional affiliation; identify the primary presenter
    • A brief description of how the presentation relates to the theme, and the Track(s) addressed.
    • One of the following statements:
      • This proposal is submitted for consideration for presentation only.
      • This proposal is submitted for consideration for the display session only.
      • This proposal is submitted for consideration for both presentation and the display session.
    • Please indicate if you want your paper considered for publication in the Summit Selected Papers
  • Extended abstracts (500-750 words) or complete papers must be submitted for consideration for each session type. We will consider work that is in-progress at the time of submission if the work will be completed by the time of the Summit.
  • PLEASE NOTE: The cover letter and proposal must be combined into one document and submitted once using the proposal submission link. Do not send the cover letter separately from the proposal. We will separate them when they arrive.

Session Types:

  • Research presentations – studies that examine any of the track areas (30 minutes)
  • Models and Best Practices presentations – these address specific assessment models and practices that focus on quality and adaptable to multiple contexts (30 minutes)
  • Symposia – three presentations in one session on a single topic (1 hour)
  • Workshops – 1.5 hours, active and engaging presentations that address a track area
  • Display Sessions – poster or other electronic format presentations of practical and research projects in a more informal, group setting, where attendees interact freely with presenters about design, analysis, findings, and resulting actions, and possible future lines of inquiry

All submissions must be submitted in English. Submissions that do not conform to these requirements may be rejected.

Addtional Submission Instructions for Specific Presentation Types

In addition to the components above, each specific presentation type must include the following information.

Research Presentations/Models and Best Practices Presentations

Complete papers:

Authors must follow these guidelines when submitting complete papers. All submissions:

  1. Must be double-spaced, margins minimum of 1” (2.54cm) on all sides, Times or Times New Roman font, 12-point font size. Word documents only. Paper size 8.5x11 inches.
  2. Must include a 150-word abstract
  3. Should not exceed 5,000 words, excluding the abstract and any figures, drawings, tables, and references.
  4. Should present no direct or indirect reference to the author or the author’s institutional affiliation.
  5. Style must conform to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (7th edition, 2019).

Extended abstracts:

Authors must follow these guidelines when submitting extended abstracts. All submissions:

  1. Must be double-spaced, margins minimum of 1” (2.54cm) on all sides, using 12-point Times or Times New Roman font. Word documents only. Paper size 8.5x11 inches.
  2. Must be a minimum of 500 words, and not exceed 750 words, excluding any figures, drawings, tables, and references. Include the reference list.
  3. Should present no direct or indirect reference to the author or the author’s institutional affiliation.
  4. Style must conform to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (7th edition, 2019).

Panel Discussions/Symposia
Individuals may present proposals for symposia of 3 persons on topics related to the Summit theme. Panel discussions/symposia must include time for audience questions. All submissions:

  1. Must be 500-750 words, double-spaced, margins minimum of 1” (2.54cm) on all sides, using 12-point Times or Times New Roman font. Word documents only. Paper size 8.5x11 inches.
  2. Must describe how the panelists will divide the time among themselves and allow at least 20 minutes for audience questions.
  3. Should present no direct or indirect reference to the leader or the panelists’ institutional affiliation in the body of the proposal.
  4. All panel members must register for the Summit.

Workshops

Workshops are 90-minute sessions that include significant audience interaction and center on practical topics related to assessment. Authors must follow these guidelines when submitting workshop proposals. All submissions:

  1. Must be double-spaced, margins minimum of 1” (2.54cm) on all sides, using 12-point Times or Times New Roman font. Word documents only. Paper size 8.5x11 inches.
  2. Must be a minimum of 500 words, and not exceed 750 words, excluding any figures, drawings, tables, and references. Include the reference list.
  3. Should present no direct or indirect reference to the author or the author’s institutional affiliation.

Display session
Authors may submit full papers or 500-750-word abstracts as display session proposals. Display session papers should not have been published at the time of presentation. All submissions:

  1. Must be double-spaced, margins minimum of 1” (2.54cm) on all sides, using 12-point Times or Times New Roman font. Word documents only. Paper size 8.5x11 inches.
  2. Must be a minimum of 500 but no more than 750 words, and complete paper submissions should not exceed 5,000 words, excluding any figures, drawings, tables, and references. (see the Complete Paper guidelines)
  3. Style must conform to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (7th edition, 2019).
  4. Should present no direct or indirect reference to the author or the author’s institutional affiliation.

Accepted display session authors will attend the display session at the Summit venue.
