Institutional Effectiveness Data

One of the hallmarks of a great university is the degree to which it sets goals, measures them, and uses the results for improvement. This process leads to maximum institutional effectiveness.

The leadership in each administrative unit at UF, including the 16 colleges, the Libraries, the Graduate School, the Florida Museum of Natural History, the Vice-Presidential and the Senior Vice-Presidential units sets goals, collects data on the degree to which these have been met, and uses the analysis of these results to improve their unit's effectiveness.

This work is reported annually in each unit's Institutional Effectiveness (IE) Report. These reports are housed in Campus Labs Planning, the university's planning, and reporting software program.

Each year, Institutional Assessment staff review all IE reports. The Institutional Effectiveness Review rubric provides the results of these reviews in the form of specific feedback to the unit leadership and staff (See Institutional Effectiveness Review Form).

Ratings for each item are defined, as follows:

  • Needs Attention (1):
    • Key items are missing (or incomplete) in the report section. Requires significant revision of narrative(s).
  • Needs Minor Revision (2):
    • Items are addressed but are unclear or unsupported in the report section. Requires some revision, such as, including action items in the narrative, providing at least one measure per action item, or numbering items accordingly.
  • Well Done (3):
    • The section narrative presents a thorough and thoughtful analysis that is fully supported by relevant data.

Please use the Institutional Effectiveness Review rubric as a checklist as you complete your unit/college IE report.
